I was wrong, there is something different about birthdays. It�s not that the day itself means anything. It�s that the people in your life do. Birthday emails and guestbook signings and offers to buy me stuff and my mom coming down to visit, food, and everybody just�taking care of me when I hadn�t asked or even really expected them to. I would never ask, because it�s not the stuff they�re doing for me that matters at all. It�s that they freely want to do it, and if you�ve asked, you can never be sure.

I didn�t think I wanted all that fuss until I had it.

So, just�wow.
