Some things aren't true until you say them...

Let's say you've been working with someone for a couple of weeks. He works in a different office than you, but you're being pulled together for a project that both of you are learning to do as you go. He, in fact, is learning his entire job as he goes.

Furthermore, he's very nice, even though he seems like more of a talker than a listener. You feel like you're making a fairly good team. You're both juggling superiors who keep checking in on you, and you're both doing a lot of emailing with four CC's and two BCC's at the top.

What's the most polite way to respond to an email of his, a status report sort of thing in which he's mentioned to all the high muckety-mucks that "Megan is going to handle all the [insert my half of the upcoming tasks here], so send her a note if you have any questions"?

And does that answer change given the fact that while my last name sounds a bit like "Megan," sort of, it is not in fact my name?
