The worst thing about being forgiven is that it becomes impossible to rationalize further self-torture.

The worst thing about losing one's rationalization for self-torture is having to realize you are doing it on purpose, even for fun.

I liked having five years hang over me, a constant background reminder of my failure, my limitations, and the circumstances under which I will knowingly betray my loved ones.

I am not yet ready to forgive.

She should not be either.
