I need to make an addendum to what I said a couple of entries ago about how much I liked Christmas decorations. Because just on my little cul-de-sac, we have animatronic reindeer, epileptically-flashing snowflakes, and someone who has turned the entire side of their house into a glowing billboard depicting Santa's head. I think there would be oversized inflated lawn ornaments, too, if the community's fences were a bit shorter. Thank god they're not.

So yes, Christmas lights are wonderful and inspiring and good.

But so is dignity.
